Senior Planner - Production

Department: 51 Production Control
Location: Shawnee, OK

Summary:

Responsible for converting current demand into functional schedules for production utilizing company ERP systems as well as maintaining inventory levels per corporate guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for processes including demand planning, forecasting, production scheduling, inventory and materials management through workflow management.
  • Analyzes Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Material Master data for accuracy and adjusts system parameters to achieve desired results.
  • Creates product build schedules for manufacturing utilizing ERP demand, capacity management, supply chain capability, and materials procurement lead time to fulfill customer demand.
  • Monitor and balance work center capacity/load, considering customer requirements and other demand.
  • Plan ramp-up / ramp-down demand planning for New Product Introductions, version changes, phase out / obsolescence.
  • Monitor and update manufacturing due dates at regular intervals to maintain an up-to-date plan for the production team.
  • Perform analysis, develop and maintain reports to enhance the company information needs.
  • Reviews reports, assist in managing inventory levels, backlog, and product availability in accordance with business objectives.
  • Monitor standard lot sizes, safety stocks, forecasts and recommend changes, as needed.
  • Proactively communicates with cross functional team to address urgent customer orders, work center load and material shortages.
  • Communicate with receiving/incoming inspection regarding incoming material quality inspection expedites, as needed
  • Communicate with the engineering staff on the bill of material and routing needs.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering or R&D to schedule tool trials, as needed.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, OSHAS 18801 certification requirements and Company Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Strive to initiate continuous improvement in the planning, scheduling and inventory control to the company’s benefit.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement:

This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:

  • CPM or APICS certification desired
  • ERP system experience in SAP or equivalent system
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Previous experience in heavy manufacturing
  • Three (3) years manufacturing planning experience or equivalent experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering or related field preferred
  • Firm understanding of the financial impact of decisions and how they impact sustainability and profitability.
  • Professional in appearance, attitude, communications and interpersonal relationships.

Environmental / Atmospheric Conditions:

  • Typical Office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat/cold in production areas.
  • Must be capable of working in the manufacturing environment, using proper safety equipment.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Necessary to operate computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend occasionally.
  • Maintain a 40-hour work week and work longer hours as required.
  • Must be able to view written and printed material for extended periods.
  • Must be able to recognize and translate numbers/letters accurately.
  • Must be able to listen and speak clearly over telephone.
